Unlocking 1,000 Years of Delhi: Shiv Nadar School Noida Explores Mehrauli.

How do you bring centuries of history to life for eighth graders? You take them out of the classroom and place them directly within the ancient stone walls where Delhi’s story began. Recently, Project Mehrauli hosted Class 8 students from Shiv Nadar School Noida for an immersive heritage tour of the Mehrauli Archaeological Park. Together, we retraced the evolution of Delhi through its oldest kings, kingdoms, and shifting power centers. Walking Through the Layers of Time. The Tomars & Chauhans: We started at the very foundation of the city. The students were told about the remnants of the 10th-century Tomar Rajputs (builders of Lal Kot) and learned how the legendary Prithviraj Chauhan expanded the citadel into Qila Rai Pithora—uncovering the first of Delhi's historic cities. The Slave Dynasty: Moving deeper into the park, the timeline shifted to the 13th century. Through interactive storytelling, we covered the dramatic rise of the Mamluk (Slave) Dynasty, discussing how early Sultans transformed the landscape with grand domes and arches. A Convergence of Cities: The students saw firsthand how Mehrauli served as a continuous canvas for multiple empires, linking the ancient Hindu citadels to the Sultanate, Mughal, and British eras.
